History

The Center for Community-Based Research was initiated in 1992 and represented the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s first visible effort in community-based research. It began under the direction of Dr. Glorian Sorensen, with a staff of nine working on one study. CCBR was designated as a center by the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in 1995, and has since become a driving force in community-based cancer prevention research. As of 2004, the Center for Community-Based Research has completed more than seven studies and has over 10 studies currently underway, with a staff of about 70.
